Action pour la Protection de l’Environnement et la Promotion des Filières Agricoles (APEFA), participated at the 18th Rwanda National Agriculture Show, held at the Mulindi showground in Kigali from 18th to 27th June 2025.
This big event organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI) under the theme “Leveraging Innovation and Investment for Building Resilient and Sustainable Agri-Food Systems,” broke a record number of exhibitors at over 530 while the previous one had 425 exhibitors.

At the Agri Show 2025, APEFA stood out as a key player in promoting sustainable and climate-smart agriculture. Under a partnership with MINAGRI, APEFA used this national platform to share practical, innovative farming models that enhance food security, improve livelihoods, and conserve the environment.

Highlights included demonstrations of climate-smart cassava farming, integrated small-scale irrigation with fish farming, and the “Five Fruit Trees per Household” initiative. Visitors were particularly impressed by the high productivity of cassava cultivated using eco-friendly practices such as minimum tillage, mulching, and organic fertilization.

Farmers supported by APEFA played a central role, offering testimonials and interacting directly with policymakers, development partners, and other stakeholders. The hands-on showcase emphasized efficient water use, improved soil fertility, and diversified income streams through integrated farming systems.
Following strong interest at the event, APEFA recommends scaling these models in water-rich areas like Mugesera–Rwintashya (Ngoma) and Cyohoha Nord (Bugesera) and building broader partnerships to expand their impact.
APEFA’s participation reaffirmed its role in shaping a more sustainable and inclusive agricultural future for Rwanda.
