The District of Rubavu organized the launch of the cropping season 2020A, this event took place on 20 September 2019, in Kanama sector in Rusongoti cell, the event brought together local residents, districts and security officials, Rwanda Agriculture and Animal resources Development Board (RAB) and Action for the Protection of Environment and promotion of Agricultural Sector (APEFA) as one of the district development partners. This activity included planting maize hybrid 626 seed on the trenches terraces of 2.5ha.

The Mayor of Rubavu District Mr.HABYARIMANA Gilbert thanked local residents for their active participation in the event and reminded them of the various government programs, such as the proper use of fertilizers, land consolidation, online registration in Smart nkwunganire, agriculture insurance, as well as the medical insurance (Mutuelle santé among other; he extended appreciation to district development partners for their day to day contributions to development of the district and the country in general.
Kanana, as one of the sectors of Sebeya downstream where the ‘Landscape Restoration and Integrated Water Resources Management in Sebeya and other Catchments’ project is being implemented, thus APEFA the NGO which has the community mobilization in its attribution.

The Executive Director of APEFA Mr. NZABONIMPA Oscar in his speech used this opportunity to raise awareness of the local community in the sector of Kanama of the ongoing activities aimed at improving their livelihoods and general terms to create Jobs for income generation. He further emphasized the participatory village and micro based approach to planning being at the heart of project implementation. This will generate simple plans (with maps, problems and agreed actions) at the village level which involves and are owned by men and women of the villages.
