From 5th to 6th October 2023, Under the project implementation called “Solar powered Irrigation and improved cooking stoves in the Bugesera District” funded by International Climate Initiative (IKI) with GIZ, APEFA organized and conducted a study tour to help project beneficiaries of the above aforementioned project to improve climate resilience options through Climate Smart agriculture practices.

The two-day of study tour, project’s beneficiaries learned different practices & activities that can help farmers to boost agricultural production but also actively as climate change adaptation & mitigation actions for less severe current and future effects of climate change.

Protais HABANABAKIZE, Project coordinator explained to the study tour participants that practicing Agroforestry systems especially fruits contributes not only to greenhouse gas emission reduction and carbon sequestration, but also to provide fruits that play a key role to fight malnutrition, life improvement as well as livelihood promotion among households members.
He recommended the participants to apply the best practices they learned in the study tour in their farms especially on solar powered irrigation site of Ngeruka sector site to increase agricultural production but also to reduce GHG gases emissions.
